How to Control Emotions

Do you know control emotions?

We are born with certain abilities to use our mindset and intelligence and to control our emotions according to the situation. This is so-called Emotional intelligence. We all need to control emotions. No matter what is the situation, don’t let your emotions overpower your intelligence. Treat your emotions gentally. Never suppress your emotions.

At first, it’s difficult but with the passage of time and maturity, it certainly becomes possible to control your emotions. For someone may be it’s not easy to accept, but it’s possible. Empower Your Intelligence:

You should not be at the mercy of your emotions. But you should always keep them in control, play with them, enjoy with them and trained them according to your strength of your intelligence. Don’t let them to dominate your common sense. Train your mind to maintain an emotional balance. If it overpowers your emotions, you might end up losing your humanity.

Better Mindset:

Emotions may often lie. They are like an emotional roller coaster with extreme ups and detrimental lows. Acknowledge their presence, but question their veracity consistently prior to making all decisions. The hardest part in life at times, actually, it is when you have to remind yourself to have a better mindset because you have to first acknowledge it.

Power of Emotions:

Emotions have lots of power, so, I think if we can use them for our betterment that will be more fun. Emotional responses may makes you feel good for the time being. However the reasoned responses will get the results you desire. Reasoned responses are generally far more powerful where it comes to provide the most compelling argument.

Positive Mindset:

It is also very important to hold a positive mind whilst eliminating negativity. Keeping a positive mindset even at the lowest degree, lets you keep going towards your goal. Always try your best to represent a better version of yourself through your behavior. Emotions can make us weak during crucial time. Try to be stronger for yourself all times. Mind over matter is always better than decisions by the emotions.

Train Your Mind:

Training the mind will lead you to greatness. The stronger the mind, the stronger and informed judgment and decisions would be. If you can train your mind, then you can do anything. It is always your mind you have to convince. Train your mind and heart to be unemotional, would save your heart to be unemotional, would save you unnecessary pain. When your emotions are stronger than your mind, the strength of your mind is meaningless as your emotions will overpower any strength your mind has.

Control Your Thoughts:

If you are not the one who is controlling your own thoughts, feelings, and emotions then you are one who is being controlled. When you have your mind in control, your feelings, actions, habit and behavior will be in the direction of your goal and your attitude will touch the edges of sky. It’s easy to let your emotions get out of control and when you resist the urge, and use discipline, you will be better for it.

Note: Dear readers, I will soon upload another article on how to overcome mental health problems due to emotional suppression. Hope you will find it useful for relaxation of your stress and anxiety. Thanks.

In your opinion, what is the best way to control emotions?

  1. I really enjoy your posts and I get where you’re coming from here. However, as you might remember, I blog about my journey through both my own and my patients’ experiences of mental ill-health. Perhaps you’ll understand that for us, particularly someone who has a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder, for example, it’s not that easy to control our thoughts and emotions.
Fortunately, some of us have had access to therapy to get to where we are able to contain our emotions and change our thought processes.

I dare say it’s not just people with mental ill-health that have illogical thought patterns, which are self-defeating and can cause great anxiety or depression in an individual. I’m sure your average Joe Blogs experiences illogical thought patterns now and again – which obviously don’t lead to a mental health diagnosis 😉

  2. Really enjoyed your post and insights! A great perspective. One thing I would add about training your mind is that I’ve trained my mind not to be unemotional but to have awareness of emotions. I might feel sad but if I’m aware of that feeling and where it’s coming from it no longer controls my mind. I still feel the emotion but I have more insight as to how to discipline the emotion rather then let it rule my mind and heart.

  3. Good post, but in some areas I disagree. One of the many things I have learned through my life experiences, especially those from the Army, is that feelings, and as a subset, emotions, get in the way of sound decision making. Every. Single. Time. So I choose to reject feelings, and keep any emotions that try to escape in check. The only thing I use to make any decision or movement in my life is my brain. That has not always made me the favorite son, but for me to give a crap about what others think would just be an emotion, and I just choose to not have any.

    • Thank you very kind for your time and worthy response to my blog, you are right with your saying, because you have a great experience of life and practical implementation of emotions. Brain is an awesome option to make a positive and productive decision. It takes a decision after thinking about the results. Am I right?

  4. So true- that emotions can lie; I wonder how many relationships have smashed up because decisions were made on emotions rather than a balanced look at evidence. Your post made me think of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Now I am curious what the next article will be about 🙂

  5. I have been pondering EQ recently and your post piqued my interest. Recently I wrote about a contract where I was surrounded by my new colleagues endless banal and malicious emotions. Then I read a scientific article about this current phenomenon. It would have been considered bad manners or tasteless to reveal all your emotions to your co-workers or even friends when I was younger. I agree with you that we can all learn to temper our emotions and perhaps have some courtesy to the person forced to listen…

    • I am really sorry for what happened to you. It’s really been hard to bear such milicous bullying acts. It breaks our hearts and really makes us feel so bad. If we did not share these things to our trusted friends, it can have a bad effect on our minds. I will suggest you to share these types of emotions with your true friends but those who can understand your feelings and doesn’t make fool of you. Actually I’m writing another article for this type of emotions. If you permit me, I want to share your comment in my article as an example. It will be a honor for me if you permit me. I will not show your identity. Thank you very kind. Many Blessings.

    • Thank you so kind dear for your time and honorable response to my blog. I just shared this post to motivate our people that we must always try to control our emotions and make sure that that our mind is strong enough then our emotions. We can take a sensible decision with our mind but not emotions. I believe that positive attitude will make you more stronger. Negative attitude always makes us weak.

  6. Very good post on one’s emotional habits. But most of your advise is easier said than done. Perhaps a little less caffeine would help control emotions. Mary Poppins said a little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down.

  8. Great post! Positive vibes are always encouraged by me when others around me feel down. There is so much negativity in the world, but I supposed that we need it to have equilibrium. It really is about how you choose your mindset to be when bad things happen after you go through all the normal emotions to get to the sunshine. Keep writing those positive vibes!
