How to Love Yourself : 12 Steps to Self-Love
Do you love yourself?
Self-love means accepting your strengths, your weaknesses and everything in between. When we begin to love each other more every day, it is amazing how our lives are renewed. We feel better, we get the jobs we want, our personal and family relationships become more harmonious, or the negative ones disappear and new ones begin; we get the money we need and in general, we feel we are flowing with life.
Self-love is self-esteem in action. The only way to stay happier and energetic is to love yourself. If you are able to care for yourself you can live happier and can live a dreaming life. We have brought 12 easier-to-follow steps that can help you examine life differently and can show you how to love yourself.
1. Ask yourself:
Ask yourself:
Who I am? This simple question is actually very difficult to answer. It is a question that seeks the root of your values, beliefs, doubts, sense of reality and even the external perceptions that were imposed on you by others, whether or not they are true.
2. Stop criticizing yourself and praise yourself:
Nobody is perfect. So, accept yourself exactly as you are. Everybody changes. When you criticize yourself, your changes are negative. The key to stopping criticizing yourself is to implement positive words in your vocabulary and understand that you are not perfect and that in life you are going to make mistakes many times.
Give yourself the opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them. Focus on all the good things you do. When you approve yourself with all the limitations, your changes are positive. Refuse to criticize yourself. Praise yourself; because criticism destroys the inner spirit while praise builds it. Praise yourself for how well you do things, no matter how insignificant they may be.
3. Waiver of Complaints:
Complaints weaken you, hold you back in life, and fill you with guilt. Your power decreases because you grant it to the person or thing you complain about, you become a helpless being or a victim.
Accept the reality of nature and don’t waste your energy on the things you can’t change about life. Put your attention on the things that you can do, improve or change and what is more important, recognize what you cannot change and accept it as part of life. Who you are complaining about or what you are complaining about is usually out of your reach. Learn to live in the present and work in your personal world.
4. Stay away from fear:
Stop terrorizing yourself with your thoughts. It is a terrible way to live. Look for mental images that evoke pleasure in you and immediately change a fearful thought for a pleasant thought, for an image that makes you feel happy and hopeful.
5. Train and take care of your mind:
It is important that you learn to relax because being tense or scared obstructs the energy that connects you with your higher power and blocks your mind. Be tolerant of your mind. Self-hatred is hatred of one’s own thoughts. Do not hate yourself for having the thoughts you have; so try to change them subtly.
Daily meditation and prayer are great tools to release stress and anxiety from your brain. Also, the practice of yoga, conscious breathing and creative visualization bring a shine to your thoughts and personality as well.
6. Forgive yourself:
Forgiving yourself, forgiving parents and relatives in combination with releasing past hurts heal more illnesses than you could ever imagine. Let the past go. You did the best you could at the time, based on the understanding, awareness and knowledge that you had. Now you are growing and changing and therefore you live life differently.
Then collaborate with your body and your mind by forgiving yourself and everyone with whom you have an unresolved issue. If you do not know how, I advise you to start by writing a letter where you write all the things that you are upset about, when you finish it, you tear it up and burn it saying: “I forgive you and I set you free” and so on with each one of the people you want to forgive. Write everything down and unburden yourself, as it’s a good and positive start.
7. Be kind and patient:
Be nice and kind to yourself. And be patient while you learn this new way of thinking. Treat yourself as you would treat a person you truly love. I ensure that you can’t imagine the positive effects of being and patient with yourself on your mind and body.
8. Give yourself support:
Find ways to support yourself. Turn to your family and friends, let yourself be helped. It is a show of strength to ask for help when you need it, even from a therapist if needed. Asking for help isn’t bad and it is also one of the best ways to know who is truly sincere to you.
9. Make peace with yourself by forgiving your negatives.
Understand that you created them to meet a number of needs. Now you are finding new and positive ways to meet those same needs. So lovingly let the old negative patterns go.
10. Take care of your body:
Along with mental health, physical health is also important. In this regard, meditation can help you release your stress and bring goodness to your mind. Find out about the right nutrition for you and exercise. Take care of your food and always eat a healthy diet. Exercise, yoga, games and cycling are some of the best practices to stay healthy and energetic.
11. Work with the mirror:
Look into your eyes often. Express the growing love you feel for yourself. Forgive yourself by looking in the mirror. Talk to your parents while looking in the mirror. Forgive them too if you don’t have good feelings for them.
12. Have fun in life:
Include fun in your life if possible on a daily basis, some activity that causes you joy, that you like or simply indulge yourself with small gifts or pleasant moments. Remember, you deserve it. Find out new ways that give you happiness and pleasure, no matter if it takes your ego from you.
So,
Start now!
